1937 London and Miss Dory Spark has received a desperate call from her Aunt Gladys. Help is needed at Wallisford Hall as one of the maids has been killed. Dory's curious nature leads her to ask questions, as the family are reluctant to involve themselves in the investigation by D.I. Ridley.
An enjoyable mystery and a solid start to a new series, I haven't quite decided on the likeablity of Dora yet.

Lady Pettifer and her companion, Dory Sparks, have spent the last 18 months on the Cote D’Azur. With it being 1940 there is the threat of war approaching and affecting them. But when at a soiree Livinia Fellingworth finds a friend murdered, Dory decides to investigate.
An enjoyable well-written cozy mystery.

Gemma is a great character--she's got spunk. She takes charge of a ship during a time of crisis and defeats a pirate. The pirate later tracks her down and steals her away. They banter, they quarrel, and eventually the wall between them comes down. Due to his lifestyle as a pirate and her background as a proper Englishwoman, they question whether or not they can even make this work. Two people from totally different worlds.
