I loved reading this book. It was first of all a gorgeous companion during the fall and winter in minnesota which can be so dreary. Secondly it filled me with eagerness to work hard on my small garden. Even though I am in a different climate and have a small city lot i felt like I learned about garden design, but also about perseverance and working hard to make my garden dreams come to life.

First, the book is absolutely gorgeous. There are beautiful pictures on every page. There are inserts on a few various plants.

This is the story of a rather well known garden in the Pacific Northwest. The authors own Northwest Garden Nursery in Eugene, Oregon. The tale of how their gardens evolved is interesting. I just disagree a bit with how things were written.

I garden in zone 4. I have worked a number of years during the spring rush at a local garden center. I am familiar with quite a few of the scientific names for plants. A few concessions for people who only know plants by their common names would have been welcome. What I can't excuse is the lack of hardiness information. The only consideration of hardiness is a small link on page 249 to the USDA zone map. This book would be so much more useful with hardiness information.… (plus d'informations)

This is a beautiful book. The color photos that appear on almost every page and set off the O'Byrnes' narrative are more special because of the heavy, gloss paper which is used throughout the book. What first caught my attention though, are the endpapers that diagram the garden's layout. I love a map and this is a great one. It was also something of a coincidence that the epilogue was an excerpt from May Sarton's Plant Dreaming Deep which I had finished reading shortly before receiving this book. I would highly recommend both books.… (plus d'informations)

A must have day brightener! “A Tapestry Garden” is so invigorating and packed with sweet ideas. The writing is uplifting and expressive. One will enjoy reading and viewing the gorgeous photographs in any season, time, or day of the year! Well done!
