This book is a brief trip through everything you need to know to complete 'A'Level mathematics. You could argue that it is sketchy in places and that it is ultimately a prompt to further work, rather than the whole thing.
The chapters on Induction and Mathematical Structure (tables,
operations) are helpful to first forays into these areas.
This book has its uses as an introduction to advanced mathematics, offering the reader a good start in the practicalities of this
subject at single level. For that, it is a confidence booster.
The 'A'-Level learner would profit from working through this book in
the summer, to get an overview of the subject, before they begin their course in the September.
They would then be well-prepared to get on with more comprehensive texts, such as that by Bostock and Chandler, to get into the real meat of the subject, right from day one, and avoid the 'I can't do this!' factor at the start of their course.
