This is primarily a creation myth that features gods and goddesses. The acts of, nature of, and relationships between three particular gods brought about the creation of the Hawaiian islands. This myth must reflect the Hawiian people’s acceptance of the natural threats of destruction that surround them and the beauty within which they live. The ocean with its storms and waves surround them while they live on land that can always threaten to erupt with molten rock. This clash creates destruction and fertility. If you’re going to live there you have to make peace with that balance. The illustrations are expertly crafted using cut (and burnt!) paper. The colors are very vibrant.… (plus d'informations)
