"Gylded Wings" by Linda Nightingale

My Thoughts.....

If you are in to paranormal tales and fantasy's you have come to the right place because 'Gylded Wings will give one quite a entertaining romantic read. This story was of Gyldan [an angel born into slavery and Brit [who was a human and there to take him to Earth]. I will say you will have to keep up with this story because there will be a lots of twist where the reader will find that on Gyldan's flights of discovery from Anachrys to Earth as he will suffers from the uncertainly as well as the acceptance of the truth. I like the description of how this author delivers a wonderful description of Gyldan running from the castle, with a horrible winter landscapes upon them as they are on there way to the portal to Earth which happens to be Miami. Having been treated so horribly in Anachrys as a slave and now being treated with great reverence was somewhat mystifying for Gyldan and learning just who his rescuer was that brought him to Earth was quite interesting. As Gyldan is now in a new world and seems to have lost his memory and will have to learn and get help from his new friends. What will happen as "Gyldan is bent on experiencing his newfound powers unmindful of the harm to Brit or the others."… (plus d'informations)

"The Summoning" by Linda Nightingale

My Thoughts....

I found this story quite a interesting one in it being a paranormal read with shapeshifters, myth, magic, demons and witches that will take the reader on a exciting ride in Jamaica. For Heather Morique who didn't know all the mystery that surrounded her husband Jahill before his death. Now that Heather son [Ariel} and husband [Jahill an Arawak Indian] had died she finds herself in Jamaica where she will meet up with her husband's folks and their ancient gods they worship...Eyrael...the God of Wind and Sea, along with his brother Sofiel, who was God of Fire and Earth. How will these two gods become so important to Heather? It was very interesting to see who these gods would be able to shift from each animal [Eyrael...horse] and Sofiel...a bull and how this shaman brought in a plan to have each of these brother fighting against each other hoping to obtain one deity for these Arawaks to have to worship. But how does this bring in Heather who didn't even know she was a witch is summoned by Eyrael? What will happen as Heather learns to use her magical skills as she helps Eyrael who has to confront Sofiel and the shaman? This will be quite a battle for control and who will win out in the end? Be ready for many adventures and vivid descriptions of Jamaica as this author gives the reader that will definitely be of interest in this fantasy read. Who will make it out of this battle? What will happen as Heather and Eyrael who were very "unlikely soul mates face a dangerous fate and discover the chemistry between them."

To get it all you will just have to pick up "The Summoning" to see how well this author delivers it with some very interesting characters from Heather, Eyrael, Tiaino the Shaman, Sofiel, Dr. Jay Reid, Jahill, Ariel, John, Liana, Damien Windsey to a few others giving the reader one good paranormal read that will keep your interest till the end.

In this continuation of 2013’s Sinners’ Opera, geneticist Isabeau Gervase and vampire Morgan D’Arcy are finally back together, but their lives have become immeasurably more complex as they move past the stage of their initial passionate but troubled romance and begin to raise their daughter Eroica, who’s not only considered an illegal entity by the vampire world but is also threatened by the onset of madness at age fifteen, due to her genetic makeup as half-human, half-vampire. Eroica learns of her true nature just as she begins to come of age, and now she must also contend with her new attraction to Lucien St. Albans, an ancient and powerful vampire from whom readers of the previous book will have come to expect nothing but malice and subterfuge. Yet Lucien himself experiences an unexpected change in romancing Eroica, and to everyone’s surprise his character begins to evolve after being fixed for thousands of years. As the story of Eroica and Lucien advances, this improbable shift becomes more and more believable and convincingly anchors the novel. Meanwhile, a major plot twist takes the story in a completely new and absorbing direction as Isabeau herself gets a crash course in all the finer points of the vampire way of life.

The survival aspect of the Sinners books always fascinates the reader--how can these vampires, even as they juggle their oversize passions, needs, and conflicts, continue to exist in the world of exterminating sunlight, suspicious humans, and modern technology? Morgan and his family ever-vigilantly make use of centuries of vampire survival techniques, as well as their ancient customs and laws, to continue to prosper. The predator nature of every vampire is never far from the surface, and courage and a noble discipline are required of each one.

Since I don’t accept any requests to read/review books and only read books which I’ve won or have been written by a member of a support group I belong, the following is my honest opinion for a signed copy of this book which I received through an internet giveaway. The downside of this is, as is the case with this book, I haven’t had the opportunity to read the first volume of this series of books where I’d have gotten to know more about its characters.

The essence of the story is Isabeau’s struggle to save the life of her half¬-breed daughter Eroica; half human, half vampire, who has a defective DNA gene which will cause her to go mad when she turns twenty. On one hand there’s Morgan D’Arcy, a famous pianist and vampire, who is Eroica’s father; and who Isabeau has stayed away from for six months, despite having given birth to his daughter. But absence makes the heart grow fonder, so she reluctantly returns to him. On the other hand Isabeau has a former boyfriend, John, who would simply adore getting back into her good graces, but her child is a continuous jealous reminder that it’s not his.

When Lucian, the Chief Counsel of the Les Elus, the ruling body of the Vampyre, learns of Eroica, he tells Isabeau he can save her life as well as the lives of her daughter and Morgan, if she would enter in a pact with him in which when her daughter reaches the age of twenty, she’d give her daughter to him. This is something she’s never told Morgan about. If she did, Morgan would want to kill Lucian.

As Eroica become a young beautiful lady, things get somewhat complicated as there’s a lone vampire who has his eyes on killing Morgan and his family begins to stalk them. Eroica is off to college where she heads right into the hands of Lucian and the plans he has for her. The continuous twists in the storyline, adds to the enjoyment of reading this book. The book ends on a promising note with Isabeau being more committed than ever to find a cure for her daughter’s condition.

I regret not having read the first volume of this series of books by Ms. Nightingale as I’m giving Volume 2 – 5 STARS.
