When I first read this book, The Chihuahua, by Anna Nicholas, back in the late eighties, it was the book to read. There were many informative pictures of famous-chihuahua champions in the book, of which the bloodlines that were featured I investigated further to develope the chihuahua-bloodlines I now have bred myself. This book was a great 'primer' for the serious Chihuahua-breeder. This 640 page book is jam-packed with pictures (800+) of many well-known show dogs and histories of the kennels which bred them from the beginnings of the breed up until the time the book was written in 1986. The breed student will enjoy the chance to watch how the appearance of the breed changed, and also stayed the same over the years. This is a massive book, detailed and dryly written, but, with its relatively brief acknowledgement of working dog titles, a chapter or two on the care and training of dobermans, and a description of the magnificent doberman personality, is perhaps really of more interest to the doberman enthusiast interested in the development of the doberman in the conformation show ring.… (plus d'informations)
