Normally I don't care for animal stories, particularly those based on true events. They tend to be too sweet, too nostalgic, too moralistic. A colleague highly recommended the story so I felt the need to give it a try. Thankfully this tale of friendship between a cat and dog is just right in all three areas. These tail-less pets (hence the "bob" names) keep each other company, and perhaps help each other survive during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Bobbie and Bob Cat are best friends. When Hurricane Katrina strikes New Orleans, they are left to fend for themselves. Never leaving Bob Cat's side, Bobbi leads the blind cat to people who take them to a shelter. The workers soon realize they are not to be separated and when the shelter closes, a national call is made to find the two a home. They wind up getting adopted by a nice lady in Oregon where they live happily.

A heart-warming story about a different side to Katrina, I loved this book. I think it is nice to focus on the positives of horrible situations and this book does that. I did not know it was based on a true story until the end and I loved the picture of the two Bobbies the book included.… (plus d'informations)
