The book gives a good amount of detail to her background in Sligo and to her relationship with her Polish husband and their life in Dublin. Her gradual embrace of cultural nationalism to becoming a full-flung advanced republican is a journey shared by many. Each chapter tells a different stage in this tale. This is a very interesting book about a fascinating Irish woman. The story speaks for itself, but it does have a tendency to read like a very long news paper article. Much of the detail is unnecessary, but some readers could find it a very useful resource for this period of time in both women in aviation and athletics.
