Critiques

Actually, even though it's a book for kids, this one provided a decent, quick introduction to the main characters and themes of the Arthurian saga

This classic, while lacking illustration, sets the stage through its inclusion of dense descriptors and sensory information. The story line highlights and imaginative reality, and takes the main characters on a grandiose adventure through character development. This classic makes room for modifications and spinoffs of both accredited authors and young readers alike- sparking youthful imagination.

Zoey wasn’t excited to go camping. She loves riding horses, but the rest of the camp activities Zoey finds boring. Zoey then gets the opportunity to a photographer for the camp newsletter. She loves taking pictures and thinks this is the perfect fit for her. However, Zoey quickly found out that working with others can be challenging. With a few bumps in the road, Zoey learns about photojournalism, compromise, and following your passion.

At times I had problems following the dialog as the text was dialog heavy in the beginning but my 3rd-grade daughter had no issues following the story. She loved it!

Recommended read for students in grades 2-3. A horse-loving child will like this title.

I didn't like this. I hated the character of Toad so much. His arrogance was grating to the nerves and I didn't like that there weren't really any legitimate consequences for his acts. He spent quite some time being proud, even bragging about it to some, of his misdemeanors. I honestly exerted to read through this to the end just to see some type of comeuppance for him to learn his lessons because I don't really think that he realized that he did something wrong.

Freckles the pig wants to help out around the farm. He decides to paint pictures on the inside of the barn to brighten it up a little. The problem is that he uses mud to do his paintings.
Freckles the Pig is one of the titles in the “Farmyard Friends” series. It is a first chapter book with simple text, bright color illustrations and repetitive words and phrases. It is recommended for optional purchase for the early reader, kindergarten to second grade.
