Mondo Publishing created the Reading Safari Basketball Magazine that contains a fictional story selection, a nonfiction article, a poetry selection, and interactive quizzes. The cover is a vibrant, colorful page with rainbow text and a photo of a girl dribbling a basketball emerging from the center of the page. The table of contents refers readers to a beginners basket ball guide, the story ‘Jayne shoots a basket,’ the story ‘On the bench,’ interactive quizzes on basketball terminology, poetry corner ‘Through the hoop on the court,’ safari cooking, and safari travel. The text is for readers in second grade with themes of sports, responsibility, and teamwork. The stories have the most amount of text in the magazine. The background colors vary in bright colors with ‘Did you know?’ informational bubbles. This magazine is great for encouraging readers to get physically active and stimulate their mind through reading. The content page is a little overwhelming for a second grader due to the abundance of features. The magazine would benefit from clearly organizing the content page and reducing the amount of illustrations and color on the content page.… (plus d'informations)
