When fiery, red-haired Mary Slessor (1848-1915) left her home in Scotland and boldly went to live among the unreached tribes of Africa's Calabar region, she brought with her the kindness, peace, and justice of her God. Fearing God and nothing else, Mary became the cherished "White Ma" to entire tribes of people others were afraid of. Whether teaching school, nursing the sick, or rescuing those in danger, Mary showed others the life and freedom found in Jesus.

Others laughed at the idea of blond, blue-eyed Hudson Taylor (1832-1905) becoming a missionary to China. He was so pale, the Chinese would think he was a ghost! But Hudson knew that God had called him, and he believed that God would help him. His faith led to the founding of the China Inland Mission and firmly established the gospel in the hearts of Chinese people.

Gladys Aylward (1902-1970) had trusted God when she traveled all alone from her home in England to the far-off land of China. Now Gladys and nearly one hundred Chinese orphans were on another daring journey, looking for safe homes away from the war in their village. The journey over the mountains was hard, and often Gladys and the children were tired, hungry, and scared. But they dared to trust God - and God helped them every step of the way.

Tells the story of Corrie Ten Boom during WWII in simple, rhyming, rhymic text for children. Does not go into much detail about her life between the end of the war and her death. Beautiful color illustrations.½

Biography
Review: This book details Jim Elliot's journey to Ecuador. It talks about his hardships and his successes as a missionary.
Critique: This is a good biography because it has a lot of information on Jim Elliot's journey to Ecuador. It is also a good biography because it has a lot of facts that Jim Elliot wrote about and told his family about.
