Jay Meek

Jay Meek's most recent books are Headlands: New and Selected Poems and The Memphis Letters. Trains in Winter, his eighth book, celebrates an age of handsomely appointed trains and ocean liners, while exploring their ponderous beauty and the weight we carry in being borne heavily through life. He afficher plus grew up on Lake Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan and Syracuse University. For his poems, he has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Bush Foundation, and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. He has been a visiting writer at a number of schools, including Memorial University of Newfoundland, Sarah Lawrence College, and the University of Memphis.
