At first, parts of this book seemed victim-blamey in the author's insistence on personal responsibility for the things that have happened to you. But I stuck with the book anyway, and I'm glad I did because I learned a shit-ton of really valuable information about myself and how I process (or prevent myself from processing) traumatic events. It also allowed me to better understand the people in my life and how they process similar events. I think I'll be returning to this often in my healing process.… (plus d'informations)

The author is a psychiatrist offering this guide to sharing life and love bound to another. Suggests techniques. For example, doing a written agreement. Shows how to have good arguments instead of destructive fights.

Take from this self-help book what you can as it really worked for me. While one should allow their moral principles to exercise a voice to their conscience in order not to violate and cause more emotional debt, overall this book was helpful and a constant reference while unraveling personal emotional prison I was in. I started using this book in 1998 and now in 2010 use it occasionally when I start feeling overload for not expressing myself, standing up for own self-respect, in a dignified way of course. This book along with my strong moral convictions has freed me up greatly. Highly recommended.… (plus d'informations)
