Hopelessly sentimental. Do we really have Dickens to blame for the Christmastime orgy of presents that absolutely no one can avoid? Perhaps the abridgement has taken all the literary merit out of the book? The historical notes and illustrations of the period are useful.½

A good story, though given that I already knew what happens it was simply a case of wading through the wordiness.
