This book was interesting but not at all what I expected it to be. I thought it would be about "gardening" like what I'm doing this year, growing my own vegetables at home, which I think could be "radical" in the sense of self-sufficiency, anti-capitalism, not using corporate food which can have unethical practices, etc. But it actually wasn't really about that at all. A lot of what it talks about has been what I would call a park rather than a garden--people marching at big public parks to protest various things, peace memorial parks, that kind of thing. There was also some stuff about '60s counterculture and a linking of Nazis to the organic food movement, which was bizarre but thought-provoking. (It wasn't saying people who support organic food are Nazis, just that some of the stuff Nazis were doing food/plant-wise had some overlap with it.) It is an interesting book, just, yeh, not what I expected. I particularly liked the sections on how gardening has been used in relation to feminist protest and activism and the one on "guerilla gardening," which means planting flowers or other things in random public places.… (plus d'informations)
