The final episode is a let down after two very solid first thirds, but even so, this is an enjoyable reimagining of the classic tale. As a result of the somewhat lacklustre third part, it doesn't in my opinion quite live up to Moffat's two excellent previous Victorian classic remakes ("Jekyll" and "Sherlock"), but it's well worth the watch. Dolly Wells is particularly memorable as Sister Agatha Van Helsing.

Taking a half star off for the utter implausibility and the extended explanation at the end. Otherwise, this is proof of how Bruce Willis is (or maybe I should say was in 2023) the world's coolest actor. And the rest of the cast is stellar in a twist-filled extremely well-written film that--somehow--I had never even heard of! If you can stomach the extreme violence, this has attitude and is a pleasure from start to finish.½

Utmärkt stilstudie över 70-talet, både på och utanför fotbollsplanen. En riktig karaktär som följs via intervjuer med vänner och kollegor samt klipp från de lokala tidningarna. Mycket bra och lättläst bok.

Nuori kapinallinen, 1955) erottuaan tähti avioitui Rayn Tony-pojan kanssa. Ruma juoru väitti äitipuolen vietelleen pojan tämän ollessa alaikäinen ja Grahamen vielä aviossa isä-Rayn kanssa.
Skandaalia sivutaan skottiohjaaja Paul McGuiganin onnistuneessa draamassa, joka pohjautuu Turnerin muistelmiin. Repostelun sijaan äänessä ovat rakastavaiset itse. Annette Bening tekee upean roolin vakavasti sairaana Grahamena.

Uno sprovveduto e sfortunato ragazzo di nome Slevin (alla lettera "cane rabbioso"), imperturbabile perché affetto da atarassia, dopo aver perso in un colpo solo il lavoro, la fidanzata e il portafoglio, si trasferisce a casa del suo amico Nick. In assenza del ragazzo, Slevin si ritrova coinvolto in un pericoloso scambio d'identità che lo costringerà per l'occasione a trasformarsi in uno spietato killer.

Looooove this series. They put so much work into it, the series are about 1.5 to 2 years apart.

A delightful, witty and exciting interpretation of the Sherlock Holmes world. Set in modern days, Cumberbatch and Freeman are a perfect team, the co-creators, Mark Gatiss and Stephen Moffat have done a wonderful job of bringing the feeling of joy and fun to this show.

It seems quite fun at first, but there are enough gaping holes in the quality of the writing that I ultimately find myself annoyed with it more than anything else. How do you ruin Sherlock Holmes? Make him dumber than the audience. The more I see, the more convinced I am that Moffat's few great Who episodes were flukes.

Much better than the first series, which I did not like. I continue to not understand what people see in Cumberbatch; Jeremy Brett could Sherlock circles around him. (And I have more than a little resentment towards him for Star Trek. A white actor who takes a role of a non-white character is not someone I want to see more of.) And Moffat continues his annoying habit of not letting you forget how hard he's trying. Still, it's a pretty good show.

Rival gangsters try to use a guy who's not who they think he is.

It's a lot of fun for the first two thirds. Then, after a twist, it essentially loses its protagonist and becomes pretty dull. It's especially frustrating since Lucy Liu's character is standing by, perfectly good to fill the vacuum, but instead she inexplicably loses all agency.

Very little holds together if you give it any thought. But if you can get past that and accept that it's a few degrees sillier than they intend it to be, it can be pretty fun.

Any time one watches a movie or reads a book and spontaneously laugh in delight at the action, that is a great work. This version of the Sherlock Holmes trope is set in the 21st century, with Sherlock a brilliant sociopath, and Dr. Watson as a retired military doctor, wounded in Afghanistan. Sherlock uses modern technology, and we watch his mind in action. For those familiar with the canon, the quirks of the characters and twists of the plot are a delight. Highly recommended.
