Summary says it's about a dog getting used to a new house, but it's more about a dog meeting and playing with the child who has adopted them. Sweet and easy read.

picture book (baby/toddler)
this is a nice one for lapsit storytimes (pair with "This is the way the baby rides"). The page-size is huge and the colorful pictures and short, rhythmic text would be great for sharing with large crowds of baby/toddlers.
I would like to see a new version with pictures that are a bit more diverse/inclusive--the princess and the fairy characters are both fair, blond girls; the lone black child is labeled a "nomad," the other darker-skinned child is a "rajah."

See also: Clip Clop for a similarly-themed book with a longer text and farm animals.

A little girl lists all of the boats she likes such as sailboats and ferries. She tells us the names of the boats and what they do out on the water. At the end all the toy boats are in her bath with her.

Tigers live in Asia!! Why don't you reviewers know that??
Granted, we generally think of Elephants and Rhinoceros as African, but the ones in this book must be the Indian varieties (even though they aren't necessarily pictured so).

It's also absurd to think that the adult Elephant would let a Tiger near the baby Elephant, and almost as silly to imagine the three kinds of animals playing together.

Gad I hate bad science.

But the pictures are pretty, and the text is good for pre- and early-readers.

Being a puppy in a new household is a little scary but Sparky and the child Mary quickly become best friends and as their first day is chronicled in big, bold print with colorful pictures, it's happy, happy, happy!

Tomie dePaola’s Mother Goose is a delightfully illustrated series of classical rhymes and short stories intended for children ages 4-8. The genre is that of a traditional collection of Mother Goose rhymes—200 total—accompanied by colorful and often humorous pictures that correspond to the classic tales.
DePaola’s illustrations are, in my opinion, of a higher quality than Offen’s, not just because all the pictures are in color but because the style is simply more visually appealing, especially for most children.

This book would be great to read to young children. It has several different animals in it, so while im reading I could ask them what that animal on that page is.

Nice and big. Not my favorite but kids seem to like it. Can be a springboard into a physical movement activity e.g. Simon says 'wiggle your tail"

This is a beautifully simple story, with vibrant illustrations. Good for really young children. It includes a tiger and a rhinoceros, as well as a baby elephant and water to splash in.
