I have read several books from Mr. Marquis. I really enjoy his WWII and historical fiction books the most. After thoroughly enjoying the prior novel in this series, Altar of Resistance I could not want to dig into this book. I was not disappointed. This is the first time that I have heard the names Eddie Chapman, Dagmar Lahlum, and Annemarie Breien.

The best part about Mr. Marquis's books is that he is a great storyteller. Instantly, I was transported within the pages of this book. Each of the people featured in this book were interesting. When I was younger I used to pretend I was a spy/double agent.

Back to the book. There were so many intriguing and exciting things happening in this book as well as the characters' dialect that it made for easy and fast reading. If you are a fan of WWII stories or just great books, than, you need to check out these books.

The more books I read from this author, the bigger the fan I become. This book is my first introduction to Nick and Skyler. Yet, despite having not read the first two books in the Nick Lassiter-Skyler International Espionage series, I instantly connected with both characters. In fact, I enjoyed them both so much that I plan to go back and check out the prior novels. I want to get to know more about their backstories.

Nick is a normal guy but just like the next person, he enjoys the intrigue and danger of espionage. Whereas, Skyler lives and breathes it every day. She is a skilled assassin. She portrays a strong persona that I gravitated towards. The international travels was great. I enjoyed all of the different locations. How the author tied the two characters' storylines together was flawless. This book is not one to be missed. The Fourth Pularchek has all of the markings of a outstanding, well-written, character driven, edge of your seat best selling winner!… (plus d'informations)

This is the second book I have read by this author. The first one was fine but this book was great. More than great, Altar of Resistance is spectacular! While, this book may have been the second one in this series I had no issues jumping right into it. In fact, I felt like it could stand on its own.

Instantly, I was drawn to this story and the characters. Although, the time period is what gave this book the cherry on top. If Colonel Wilhelm and his children, John and Teresa had been in modern day times, I still would have liked them but what they all endured during this time period is what gave them that extra depth of intensity. Once, I started reading this book, I could not stop reading. I read it in a few hours. Strong beginning, middle, and ending. I plan to go back and check out the prior book in this trilogy as well as patiently awaiting the final book.… (plus d'informations)

This is my first introduction to author, Samuel Marquis' work. As a fellow Coloradoan; I had to try this author's work out. I am only about 3 1/2 hours away from Denver. So, I enjoyed the different location references in this book. Right away I knew I liked Mr. Marquis from this sentence " Below on the ice, the first game of the semi-final Stanley Cup series between the Colorado Avalanche and the hated Detroit Red Wings was in full swing." I am a Avalanche fan and anyone who is a true fan can relate to the hatred between the Avalanche and the Red Wings.

While I have not read the first book I do like Joe Higheagle. He is intelligent and fights hard for the truth. Knowing that the author wrote this book with first hand experience regarding a cancer cluster case did add another layer of intrigue to the story as a whole. For the most part I found this to be a quick read. Although, there were a few times where it did lag some for me but luckily not for too long. I do agree with another reader that Joe is like the male version of Erin Brockovich.
