The final story goes back to the reign of Nero during the latter persecution of Christians who were evidently in such short supply that two young men from Bridgeton, Glasgow, were included in the mixed bag huddled in the great Arena as the lions were released. One is telling the story, and he stops: "...Aw...but here's the lions! I'll tell ye efter."
