Sarah J. Maas was born on March 5, 1986 in Manhattan, New York. She received a degree in creative writing and a minor in religious studies from Hamilton College. In April 2002, she began posting the first chapters of the rough draft of Throne of Glass on FictionPress.com and garnered a large online afficher plus fan base. Her first book, Throne of Glass, was published in 2012. Her other works include A Faraway Land, Crown of Midnight, and A Court of Thorns and Roses. Her novels A Court of Mist and Fury, book 2 in the Throne of Glass series, Heir of Fire, book 3 in the Throne of Glass series, and Empire of Fire, book 5 in the Throne of Glass series, and A Court of Wings and Ruin, book 3 in A Court of Thorns and Roses series made The New York Times Best Seller List. Read and enjoyed
After having read the first four novels in the series, I decided to start this while waiting for the next book. I didn't think I'd enjoy a prequel, but I was WRONG. I cried while reading it. I might have to read the entire series again now!
More difficult to follow than the previous books in this series as there are multiple stories being told. However, it all ties back together at the end.
After the monumental cliffhanger that was dropped in the previous book, the fact that this one was only about Chaol, Nessryn, and Yrene was pretty insufferable. I found it so difficult to get through. Especially when the outcome was so obvious. The only interesting thing that came out of this was the revelation about Maeve.
