1874 A Chapter of Franciscan History: The Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration 1849-1949, by Sister M. Mileta Ludwig, F.S.P.A. (read 3 Nov 1984) This is a 1950 account of the author's community, the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, whose motherhouse is in LaCrosse, Wis. I enjoyed the book very thoroughly. The early years of the community were really tough, and the leading early founders left the convent. 1763. Right-Hand Glove Uplifted: A Biography of Archbishop Michael Heiss, by Sister M. Mileta Ludwig, F.S.P.A. (read 30 Jan 1983) This book attracted me by its striking title. It is a 1968 biography of Michael Hiess, who was born April 12, 1818, in Pfahldorf, Bavaria, was ordained Oct 18, 1840, at Nymphenburg (near Munich), arrived in New Orleans in December, 1843, worked in Kentucky and Ohio, and then accompanied Bishop Henni to Milwaukee. There he was the first Rector of St. Francis Seminary, became the first bishop of LaCrosse in 1868, and subsequently Coadjutor Archbishop of Milwaukee, and Archbishop. He died 7:45 PM on March 26, 1890. This is an excellent biography, even though it is not written in the critical way some other great eccliesiastical biographies I have read were.… (plus d'informations)
