Ludvík Losos

A beautiful book on the history of the special saloon coaches built by the Ringhoffer works in Prague, mainly for VIPs. It includes various coaches built for the Austro-Hungarian Imperial train, with pictures of the final journey of the Archduke Ferdinand to Sarajevo. The story ends in the early post-war years, with a special saloon built for Stalin, which he never used.

The book is illustrated with photographs and drawings from official archives, including colour views by contemporary designers of the interior fittings of some of the more notable vehicles. The English translation is one of the best I've seen out of Eastern Europe, with few idiosyncracies.… (plus d'informations)
