L.A. Lemmons

Dr. L. A. Lemmons has a lot on his mind, and American Never Promised Us Happiness is apparently his way of laying it all on the table. Here he covers such a wide range of topics that the result is kind of this everything stew, this hodgepodge of musings on how the average American is being deceived—Consumerism and Corporatism, Marketing and Self-Esteem, Education and Religion, Love and Sex, and on and on and on. I agree with him on a few points, disagree with him on the rest, and more or less couldn't be bothered to care about any of it.

What Lemmons sees as thoughtful expressions of social commentary, I see as borderline-paranoid, conspiratorial ramblings infused with pop culture references.… (plus d'informations)
