Courte biographie
Avery Laval (a pseudonym for a women’s fiction author you might know) was not allowed to read romance novels growing up. We can all guess what happened as a result—secret rendezvous with Heathcliff, midnight trips to Manderley, and the development of a precocious ability to recognize Fabio in any possible period garment. Now she reads romance, mysteries, fantasy, and everything else she might desire, and she spends hours and hours in her own imaginary world, full of strong, smart, and passionate people who know nothing about love…at first.

Very short, somewhat improbable romance about a landscape architect and a rich Australian, set in New York City. I received my copy from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program.

I received this book from early review from LibraryThing. It was a very fast read not much substance. I somewhat enjoyed the read and may read other books in the series.

This book was a mess. Granted, I probably know more about the business of being a landscape architect than is helpful, but just about every single detail about this heroine's career and how she manages her business was insane. Somehow she has a license in New York (she'd need a license to hold herself out as a landscape architect, as opposed to a landscape designer), but not only does she have no existing clients yet (why would she start her own business rather than work for a year for another architect to get connections?), but she doesn't know how commercial nurseries work. Which is cool because she's found the one commercial nursery in the metro area that will deliver, on a Sunday, without being prepaid (which you BILL YOUR CLIENTS FOR IN ADVANCE, something you should learn about during your internship). Basically, she behaves like she's incompetent, she knows almost nothing about creating roof gardens, and the events related to her career are just setups to get her into contact with the hero. I got this book for free to write a review, so I tried to finish it many times before I gave up in disgust.

I know, this isn't much about the book. I could not focus on the plot because of how insane the setup of her landscape business was. I like a nice uncomplicated romance, but if you have any experience in the building trades at all you will find this more funny-sad than funny-romantic.

A fast easy read that didn't depend upon reading another book in the series. I think I breezed through in an hour and a half of reading, or less. Light, uncomplicated just what was needed to relax and let the world go by.
