Ok, so the synopsis gives the gist of the book so no need to repeat what the book is about, what i will say is the author ticked all the boxes when he wrote this exceptional novel. Its fast paced with all the twists that a well-written thriller should have.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out.

It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a well-written suspenseful, psychologicall thriller with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of the mystery, thriller and suspense will want it.

It is not often a book can be stamped “brilliant” but this novel meets the criteria! Very highly recommended.

This is my second Kirwan thriller, and I remember really liking the first one, so it's nice to get into another book by this author in this style.

The book opens with Greg, a criminal psychologist, hunting a killer before his wife, Kate, becomes a victim. The Dreamer, a prominent serial killer, seems to have stopped after that, and Greg digs deep to find him as he fights his own demons and heartache. It's a quick read with the fast pace and twists that a well-written thriller should have.

This book has pretty tight writing, not unusual with Kirwan in any of his books, but something really clicks with this one. It's a great book worth your time and reading, and it's no surprise that I will eagerly await the next Kirwan book!

"Sometimes, books come along that grab you by the ear, drag you into a dark alley and whisper unspeakable horrors into your trembling lobes, and this is that kind of a book, only it doesn't stop at whispering - oh no, it shouted, shrieked, and sent shivers down my spine with a tale of a man chasing monsters, both outside and within.
Greg Adams is our reluctant hero, a criminal psychologist with a knack for diving into the minds of the insane. But when he finds himself dancing on the knife-edge of sanity while hunting down a notorious serial killer, The Divine, the stakes shoot through the roof - or perhaps, in this case, the cellar floor. And just when I thought Greg could use a hot cup of cocoa and a blanket, his world imploded when another serial killer, The Dreamer, who took something irreplaceable from him. Cue the ominous music.
Now, I'm a fan of a well-brewed cup of psychological thriller, with a dash of personal vendetta. And Kirwan brews a storm, or should I say a nightmare, that kept me turning the pages, even when i half expect a ghostly hand to emerge from the book and grab my wrist.
The writing is a well-cooked stew of dread with a side of crisis. I felt every bump and bruise along the way in this novel, as the characters leapt out, with all their flaws, fears, and fury.
'The Dead Tell Lies' wasnt just a book for me, it was an eerie jaunt into the depths of the human psyche, with a side of vengeance. And while it might have its flaws, it’s a journey worth taking, especially if you enjoy dancing on the tightrope of terror." like me. Definitely recommended.

This has been my first thriller read of this month, and I was highly impressed with the way the author has grafted the subplots to maintain the chilling thriller in a seamless manner.
The protagonist, Greg Adams, is appreciated and known for his ability to get into the minds of serial killers and solve cases, but he himself got it wrong when it involved his beloved wife. He believed that "X" killed his wife, came to terms with the truth, accepted it, and moved on to a new location to start his life... until he realized that "X" was dead. Before he could be happy about it, the next suspense was revealed: he wasn't the killer...
I too was captivated and thought that the story had come to an end when X was convicted, but when the layer-by-layer subplots came into play, I was highly engrossed. I was appreciating the ability of the author to think deeply and vividly like a serial killer. This shows a wide area of research and perfection in delivering the story.
It was a perfect page-turner. I told the story to my husband, and he was also asking questions like a child to know "what happens next" and "who is the actual killer".
