Wake the Bones: A Novel par Elizabeth Kilcoyne
While this is exactly the darkly lyrical prose that I love and a lot of the themes of guilt and loss were given really beautiful metaphor, the plot and characters fell a little flat for me. So this is a little more of a 3.5 rounded down.
this is, i think, fine for what it is. supernatural and monsters and magic. the writing is good, the characters are pretty interesting. but as much as i'm trying, these storylines are not enjoyable for me. but i think she did it well and so could really see others liking this one.
Definitely not your father's Oldsmobile, but an intriguing story with a lot more emotional content than you expect from reading the first couple chapters. The supernatural aspects blend together very well and probably aren't that far from what folks in the rural areas in Kentucky think about when life gets strange and things go bump in the night. There's plenty of dark and gore that might be unsettling for some, but in the end, you have a pretty decent tale with survivors at a point where they'll have a future with some hope.… (plus d'informations)
teen/adult horror fiction set on rural Kentucky tobacco farm - like a dream and a nightmare at once. Impressive work.
