I am in a way pleased with this book. To sum things up, Jonathan can indeed write well, and even a nibble quickie read such as The Waiting Room has sufficient world building to describe the eerie surroundings while we discover Gary's uncertain fate, and the reason why he ended up in his current situation.

Now, it is true that the prose is quite detailled without veering on the extreme of flowery abuse of description. It is also true from context that it is likely you will guess a lot of the plot early on, and are just cruising along more for curiosity than anything else. There have been plenty of short horror and dystopian fiction that cover this tried and true story, but that doesn't fully take away the fact that it was a fun read. I award this book 3 1/2 stars.

Felt like I was reading a story from the old Twilight Zone show. Hope he continues with this story, I can envision so many ways this could go.

I loved this short story! I really didn't know what to expect when I first started reading it, but the more I delved into the story, I found that I could not put it down as I wanted to see what was going to happen next.

The story is about a man that ends up in a waiting room and he has no memory of how he ended up there. There are other people in the waiting room, but no one will help him find the answer he needs to know what is going on. The story took me on some twisty turns all the way to the end. It took me by surprise when I finally made it to the end of the book and I found out why the man was in the "waiting room". Giving it four stars for taking me to a surprising end!
