This is the best book that I have ever read about Lizzie Borden. Kent tries to be even-handed in his examination of the case (although I believe he leans towards her innocence) and the result is an extraordinarily detailed and nuanced account of the case.

Not so much new evidence of the actual murders rather than new interpretation (though this book is dated too) of trial coverage, etc. Still, it is a good read of the legendary Victorian murders. I suppose it could really be simple enough if you just take the series of events and draw your own conclusion. Like Jack the Ripper, though, we will really never know.

Lots of books came out about the Borden case, after the 100-year anniversary of the murders in 1992 unsealed some sealed documents. This one is the absolute best, hard facts, unsensational but still riveting reading. She didn't do it. Actually most books exonerate her. THIS one is the best one to explain why.
