This is an older cookbook, but still very informational for children. The book gives definitions of basic kitchen tasks, such as: chop, cream, bake, etc. There are pictures to go with most of the recipes and it gives simplified instructions to make fun recipes including “Funny Face Pancakes”, Butterfly Banana Cake, and Hobgoblin Burgers. The recipe titles are fun and the recipes are designed to interest children.
I like this cookbook even though it is a bit dated. The recipes are very kid friendly and the pictures are still enjoyable. One thing that I noticed that I like is the recipes often give a description of what something should look like at certain stages.
You could use this book to possibly hook an alliterate reader. They may enjoy taking a cookbook home to “read”. Also, you could use a cookbook when teaching sequential order in language arts. It is a great illustration of why ordinal words are important.… (plus d'informations)
