If you enjoy twisty, revenge thrillers this book is for you. The plot took many turns and surprised me again and again. Addison is a newlywed and a new widow. Rumors abound that she murdered her wealthy new husband Richmond for his money. But that's not the case, someone beat her to it. This was a fast paced un-put-downable domestic thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended for page turning fun. This is my first novel by Darby Kane and it definitely won't be my last.

An isolated island, a group of college friends, and a party form the backdrop to this mystery thriller.

Years have passed when the invitation to an engagement party comes in the mail. Old college friends, bound by secrets and lies, agree to attend and arrive for a weekend meant for celebration. Twelve years have elapsed since their friend Emily Hunt was murdered and the student who was thought to be guilty committed suicide. But this group is about to get a surprise. Someone knows that they have not been telling the truth. And they are about to be exposed.

This novel was full of melodrama, deplorable characters, and far too wordy to hold interest. It reminded me of a bad teenage slasher film. I could not stand these young adults and their behavior. Every bit of this was such a trope including the island setting and the storm. I didn't feel any tension or suspense and only kept reading to find out if all my guesses were right. Predictable and annoying with the ending you expect. I'd pass if I were you.

Denna bok är väl underhållande och enkel att läsa. Vi följer hur huvudpersonen Elisa spenderar sina dagar hemma i återhämtning efter ett tidigare trauma. Hennes man är en relativt upptagen veterinär och hennes son finner sig i något av en rebellisk period. Boken kretsar runt Elisas vän Abby som är spårlöst försvunnen, hennes relation till Elisas svåger samt hans "problem" med kvinnor väcker stora misstankar, vilket gör Elisa övertygad om att hennes svåger har något med Abbys försvinnande att göra.

Spänningen finns, men dynamiken mellan karaktärerna har en tendens att falla platt. På grund av Elisas tidigare trauma så ses hon vanligtvis som instabil och otrovärdig, varav hennes egen man hellre tar sin broders parti varje gång. Med andra ord är hennes man inte direkt en bra make, vilket förmodligen är fallet på grund av att misstankar skall föras mot honom samt att få huvudpersonen att ifrågasätta sina tankar och funderingar kring sin svåger. Elisas egen självbild och synen som hon har på de i hennes omgivning förstärker inte läsarens sympati för henne utan skapar det motsatta.… (plus d'informations)
