A propos de l'auteur

Dr. Alejandro Junger was born in Uruguay in 1964. He graduated from medical school there in 1990 and moved to New York City for his postgraduate training. He completed three years of training in Internal Medicine at NYU Downtown Hospital and three more years of fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases afficher plus at Lenox Hill Hospital. His drastic change in lifestyle and diet from his move to New York City soon reflected as irritable bowel syndrome and depression. Becoming a patient of the system he was practicing was such a shock, that it started a journey to search for an alternative solution to his health problems. His findings are the subject of his first book, Clean. In it, Dr. Junger describes how he became aware of the toxicity of our planet. He also explains how detoxification and cleansing have been around for thousands of years, but knowledge about them has been lost at at time when it is more important than ever before. Most importantly, Clean is a manual for readers to learn how to turn our detoxification systems on full speed, while supporting our bodies to maximize their effectiveness. His title Clean Gut made The New York Times Best Seller List in 2013. (Bowker Author Biography) afficher moins

I'm not a doctor or a scientist. I picked up this book because it intrigued me. I've been reading about probiotics and thought this would have some useful info.

Well - it did some good explaining of the digestive system. Now, whether all our illnesses are caused by an unbalanced gut. . . hmmm. I know if I eat better, I feel better. It makes some sense to do a cleanse and gradually find out as you add certain foods back into your diet what might have disagreed with you. But to clear out toxins?

I'm always a skeptic, it seems. I did google this author on the internet. Found out he has a program (an expensive program) to sell shakes/supplements to go along with his diets.

I'm not entirely convinced about this but some of the recipes in here sounded good. And it's weird that you can't mix animal proteins and grains together. Whatever.

Junger has an amazing way of making complicated physiological concepts seem easy. This is a very straightforward book, thought process and system. Well worth the time.

Best and clearest explanation I've ever read for detox programs. He covers all the physiological information in a very accessible way.

Interesting reading but I can't really rate it higher without having followed the program. I am intrigued since I have health problems that may benefit from a cleanse so I may give it a try. Much of the information on inflammation is not new to me as I am an avid reader of books by Dr Joel Fuhrman, Dr Esselstyne, Dr McDougall, etc. Unfortunately, you can't find two who agree on all points which makes it difficult to know who to follow.
