I was assigned this book as an undergrad in a Civil War class which was taught by a man who clearly believed that the wrong side lost. As I recall, this book did not reflect that stance and was rather objective. In terms of Civil War scholarship however, I suspect this book does not represent the latest or most courrant thinking in the field.
