It's not heavy or intellectual, the characters are all quirky, many are short-tempered and swear a lot. Yet the family and their history is interesting enough that I really enjoyed this one. Lots of good Thunder Bay references, and even though I have never been there, they match with the stereotypes in a great self-deprecating way.
My only complaint is with the teens (except London). They seem fake and horrible. Teens bully and judge, yes, but they do so with much more subtlety and insecurity than the ones in this book.… (plus d'informations)

Amy Jones is a Canadian writer, whose debut novel We're All in This Together was a shortlisted finalist for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour in 2017. That, and the fact that part of the premise of Every Little Piece of Me was a family living in a reality TV show running a B&B in Nova Scotia, prompted this to appear on my library reserve list.

I haven't read of Jones' humour but I think it would be her stronger work, having been nominated for the Leacock Medal. This was a straight thriller and not really a very good one at that. I'm a sucker for books set in Northern Ontario, and an even bigger sucker for books about dysfunctional families. So, suffice to say, this is one of my favourite books of all time. With the wide cast of wonderful characters, the family dynamics that range from funny to painful, and a setting so rich that Thunder Bay becomes a character in and of itself, this is a fantastic read.

A compelling collection of short stories from Amy Jones! I feel like I would have rated this one higher had I not read her other book, We're All In This Together, first. Frankly, WAITT is pretty much the perfect book and has given me unrealistic expectations for fiction.
