“A BRIEF History of Modern Aeronautics,” by C.G. Grey, appeared as a supplement to Jane’s All The World’s Aircraft 1917. By that time, Jane’s had become the world’s authority on aeronautics, its first edition, All The World’s Airships (Aeroplanes and Dirigibles), having appeared in 1909. https://simanaitissays.com/2018/03/14/aero-history-a-century-ago-part-1/

From the jacket:

'This is a facsimile copy of the seventeenth issue of Jane. The 1914 issue is an obvious choice for reprinting: here are drawn up the navies that were to change the course of history and themselves be changed out of recognition.'

I cannot really add to that. What can one say about Jane's that has not already been said?

Great detail of the various ships, the illustration / plans are a great help too but what else would you expect from the founder of "Janes Ships". Trully a very useful reference work, alas I only have the second volume.
