This film Special: "Rape of Nanking" is hosted by Arthur Kent and includes original film footage shot by both civilians and Japanese military documents the horrors inflicted upon the people of Nanking in 1937 when upwards of 300,000 were murdered by the invading Japanese army. While the film depicts many graphic details, it will be helpful to students (preferably juniors, seniors and college students--not younger) who have been prepared in their history courses for the documentary film footage. There are several Europeans and Americans who attested to the events that they witnessed and documented in their diaries; among them are Joh Rabe (German member of Nazi party); Minnie Vautrin (American missionary); and others.
