A fine biography of the original people's princess. This book talks about the struggles in the Duchess of Teck's life: her weight, her search for a husband, and the forever inconvenient topic of money, which sent the family to mainland Europe to try and recoup some of their enormous losses.

Other than a few minor editing mistakes, this book is well-worth reading. It is a must in any royal library. The Princess was extremely popular amongst the people, and when her carriage passed by at Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, the people gave her the loudest cheer, second only to the Queen herself.

Good reading!

2095 The English Reform Tradition 1790-1910, edited by Sydney W. Jackman (read 16 Aug 1987) This is a compilation of speeches--Pitt on slavery (very good), Shelley (poem), a speech for Catholic emancipation, Macaulay on the 1832 Reform Bill, a speech on the Chartist petition, one on child labor, corn law repeal, education, etc. The book was as disjointed as a compilation of fifteen different selections must be.
