A very nice and concise introduction to the field of data visualizations. It's definitely for beginners, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Includes visual illustations on: Blue State/Red States, NY Subway Map, airplane flight patterns, US Senate voting, YellowPages.com searches, Wikipedia authoring, NY Times articles, and (gag) even forensic postmortems. Recommended for designers and software developers who have ever struggled with how to present complex data -- others may like it just for the color pictures.… (plus d'informations)

A wonderfully diverse book, you'll find discussions of Tufte, Illustrator and Java Algorithms in the span of several pages. The book is aimed at a very niche market, and some chapters may overwhelm the non-developers, while others will frustrate the non-designers.
