I use my slow cooker a lot so thought i'd treat myself to this book.. Had a flick through and the recipes look gorgeous.. looking forward to trying some.

I made the Chicken Tikka Masala yesterday and it was gorgeous, if i say so myself.. all made with Indian spices and not a jar or bought paste in sight.. i added a wee bit more chilli as it seemed too bland for my taste and it turned out gorgeous.
I'm planning on making a new dish from this book each week.

Some excellent recipes in this book, with clear explanations about how to use a slow cooker (also known as crockpot). Chapter divisions are into poultry, different meat and veggie dishes, and there are photographs for each recipe.

I've made three or four of them since being given this book four months ago, and they were all excellent; not necessarily ultra-hot, but aromatic, spicy and delicious. It's a good book for inspiration too. Some of the ingredients are not necessarily easy to get hold of, but most seem widely available. A few do use curry powder but the majority use individual spices or some form of curry paste.

All in all, a great addition to my recipe book shelves. Recommended to anyone with a slow-cooker who enjoys spicy recipes.

Recipes for main dishes, desserts and cakes, all of which can be prepared in a short time. Wonderful for busy people who don't want to eat pre-prepared junk food!

This book is great to have for during the week but both my husband and I felt it wasn’t something that you’d use on a weekend, it didn’t have that something special. I’ve tried quite a few of the recipes now and I have found the cooking time to be slightly out for my slow cooker – I need to take some time off (something worth bearing in mind).

I have tried – Caribbean chicken loaf (wasn’t great), oriental turkey wraps (tasty), chunky chilli con carne (fine), three-meat casserole (awful), pork with coriander & wine (fine), baked bean loaf (great), cauliflower cheese (very dry). So as you can see it is hitty missy – but isn’t any recipe book.

What I do like about it is that there are some conversions so if you’re going for the true convenience food and using frozen vegetables for example, then she does give you the quantities for those. It really is simple to use, most recipes have just a few steps and they are so easy to follow. On average, I’ve found a recipe takes me no more than 15 minutes and if that still is too much on a morning, then you could prepare some of it the night before and keep it in the fridge.

Whilst this book will never be one of my favourites, it does give you some flexibility for those mornings when you’re really pushed. Having said that, with some of the recipes there’s nothing wrong with cooking them overnight and reheating them the next night!
