This is an astonishing book, some really fascinating entries in this, it draws on over four centuries of almanacks and gardening books, and it can be read over and over again. We have it on permanent show (at least last 2 years), propped up on a reader's book-rest and try to make sure that the correct day is shown. Yesterday, for example, had a quote from Francis Bacon as well as this:

"What is still desired and wanted to make the Art of Gardening truly pleasant, familiar and entertaining, is the Order of Time: To be led, as it were, by the Hand; to be directed and pointed to something to be done, not only each successive Year, but if possible every Day, at least every Month in the Year, towards forwarding the natural Hopes of being rewarded with Fruit and Plenty"
