A grown-up [b:Tomorrow, When the War Began|71865|Tomorrow, When the War Began (Tomorrow, #1)|John Marsden|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388214812s/71865.jpg|1253352].

I preferred the present-day alternate history to the flashbacks to Geoff's earlier life, and (as with most alternate history) I wanted more information about where the timeline diverged and why.

Also it's Australia; don't worry about the invaders because the bush will kill you first.

"A dazzling sweep through the 50's and 60's and the elusive world of literary fame. From an Antipodean childhood Jack grows up realising books are knowledge andknowledge is power. His quest takes him to university (Ginsberg and the Beats) and follows in Kerouac footsteps and finally to the literary mecca of London the ending though is a disappointment.

I'm half tempted to give the book an extra half star just for the ending. I don't want to give it away, but it's been a long while since I've found myself re-reading the last page just to make sure I read what I thought I read. Shocking finish to the book, but appropriate.

The book held my interest: even though it is an alternate history of WWII where the Japanese invade Aussie, I hardly noticed that the characters don't encounter Japanese soldiers until 200+ pages into the book. Well written and recommended.… (plus d'informations)
