The Boy with Pink Hair is an okay book. The message of the story is to be who you are because you are special in your own way. One reason I liked the book was because the language is descriptive and fun. For example the author described the boys hair in the following way "The boy with Pink Hair has a cotton-candy mop". The description of his hair is fun, and helps children imagine what exactly his hair looked like. Another reason I liked the book was book pushes readers to think about tougher issues. The book makes children look at the difference they might have and reinforces the idea that we are all different and we should make fun of one another. Finally, A reason I dropped a star on my rating is that the plot is cheesy and overdone. I feel like there are so many children's books that have a character that is different, and somehow ends up as the hero. The plot doesn't build very well, its basically him being made fun of, the oven being broken, him saving the day because he can cook, then him no longer being made fun of anymore. The book sends a good message, but I think it could've been delivered better in a less conventional way.… (plus d'informations)

I really enjoyed this book for many reasons. Most importantly, it has a great overall message of acceptance. This boy is about a boy who was born with pink hair, and even though he is different, he is happy in his own skin and his parents love him the way he is. The story also has a deeper meaning. It can be taken in a lot of different directions. People are born with differences and diversity is a vital key to education. This book models the real-life hardships people may go through because of their differences. For example, the boy with pink hair gets made fun of by his peers. They call him “weird” looking and some even laugh at him. But the boy is not discouraged thanks to important friendships that are made. The relationships in this book portray how a true friend should act. True friends like the girl with ponytails in this book should accept you for who you are. The family relationship within this book is very supportive as well. Before the boy went to school his parents told him that “some people might want to make fun of you, but don’t you listen to them”. Differences in school should be admired instead of frowned upon, and this book relays that important message in a simplistic, yet great way.… (plus d'informations)

I know he's a celebrity author, but I don't know anything about Perez Hilton. The book is cute enough, and I like the message, even if the plot is fairly unlikely.
