I've studied theology for years but this is the first book (booklet, actually) I read on theological education per se. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the extent to which the book helped me put words to many of the thoughts I've had over the years concerning my own educational journey. The following quote sums it up quite well for me:
"My current perception of my goals, the current language I have for describing where I am going, is part of what may need to be transformed as I learn. And that means that there may simply be no ways in which I can presently describe where my learning will take me - no ways which are available to me before I undergo the process of transformation which will lead me there. To put it bluntly, if you know where you are going, you are not learning." (p. 16)
It's an easy read - just 24 pages - but surprisingly rich and deep.
