The Tempest par Ian Russell

This is not one of my favorites from the Bard. The story is convoluted - there are too many devious plots to kill people for no reason; events are shaped beyond anybody's control but Prospero's. I was not a fan of including the antique godesses, nymphs and spirits, it seemed like a copout from writing about people, which I feel is Shakespeare's best suit.

I know this is considered autobiographical, and allegorical of colonism, but that's just not my cup of tea. On the flip side, the writing is brilliant, as always.… (plus d'informations)

The Tempest par Ian Russell

Shakespeare's farewell to the stage. Prospero's final speech sends chills down my spine... is this Shakespeare's last message to us, his audience? His way of closing his brilliant career?
I read a few critical essays on this comedy, and several critics agreed that Prospero IS Shakespeare. Interesting, yes?
