FORBIDDEN GARDEN par Ellen Herrick

I enjoyed this SO much. The Sparrow Sisters was really lovely, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, but I admit I did not warm up to the characters nearly as much as in this sequel (of sorts) that centers on Sorrel.

All of the characters seemed more approachable and sympathetic to me, yet never boring or clichéd, especially maybe my favorite character, the garden itself.

Perfect cozy reading for anyone with a love for herbs, gardens, England, and family mysteries. Thank you for this magical, evocative novel.

The Sparrow Sisters: A Novel par Ellen Herrick

I enjoyed this book -- it was whimsical and fun -- and a take on a modern day 'witch' hunt. I liked the pull of modern medicine with non-traditional -- and a fun read is always nice.

The Sparrow Sisters: A Novel par Ellen Herrick

Did not finish. Lots of pretty words but a paper-thin plot centered around how irresistible the manic-pixie female protagonist was supposed to be. I tried to stick it out for the obvious revelation that she was a witch, but it wasn't worth the payoff to keep reading the book.
