I'm not sure that the author's decision to organize the story around the dichotomy between "honor" and "conscience" contributed that much to the book's success. After a while, the labeling of this deed as an act of conscience and that deed as an act of honor gets a little tiresome. It feels like little more than telling us who were the good guys and who were the bad guys. I think we could figure this out for ourselves.

Nevertheless, this is a very good book. It is a brutal story told very humanely by a very talented writer.

If as many people would read this book as read the Zane Grey novels it refers to, it would probably create just as large an influx of tourists to Arizona as Grey's books did.… (plus d'informations)
