Da quanto ho capito, i Ladybird Books erano libretti per bambini, probabilmente scritti in rima; anzi è possibile che ne siano ancora prodotti oggi. Però una decina d'anni fa il gruppo Penguin decise di creare una serie "Ladybird Books per adulti" che parodiava i libretti degli anni '50 e '60 riciclando le illustrazioni del tempo. Per dire, ce n'è uno su Donald Trump. Questo volume raccoglie un certo numero di possibili titoli della serie. L'idea è molto bella, ma purtroppo c'è ben poco oltre le copertine: qualche riga di presentazione (non sempre), in rari casi alcune pagine dell'edizione come nel caso del libro su Brexit che però esiste, un po' di paraphernalia e nulla più. Secondo me sarebbe stato meglio ridurre il tour de force sulle copertine, e lavorare di più sui contenuti dei finti libri...… (plus d'informations)

It was inevitable that the COVID-19 epidemic would eventually be satirised, and we all need a belly laugh or two about now.

Jason Hazeley's book is a brief and helpful guide from Sir Clement Apricot-Wilson of the Department of Unforeseen Circumstances, on how the British people should conduct themselves during the COVID lockdowns. Important topics such as working from home, personal hygiene and keeping your children under some semblance of control are covered. There are helpful lists of dos and don'ts. If the British people are prepared to follow Sir Clement's strictures then they may get through this dark time relatively unscathed. Or not.… (plus d'informations)
