Karen Hartman's seventeen plays have been produced by more than forty theatres worldwide. Her work includes the libretto for a new opera, MotherBone (New Dramatists' Frederick Loewe Award in Music Theatre); the plays: Girl Under Grain (Best Drama, New York International Fringe Festival), Alice: afficher plus Tales of a Curious Girl (AT&T:OnStage Award) and Blessings and Curses (Dance Alliance Tommy Award, Patte Award for Outstanding Dance Theatre). She has been a Hodder Fellow at Princeton, a Jerome Fellow in Minneapolis, a Fulbright Scholar in Jerusalem and a playwright-in-residence at the Royal National Theatre in London.
