"Derbyshire's Dane" is quite possibly the only book written about a professional Danish cricketer, so it's sad that the book is disappointing; for some reason the author felt it necessary to make regular references to his own life and cricket career and for someone who supposedly knew Mortensen there isn't a great detail of personal information included in "Derbyshire's Dane".

The book is only 48 pages yet still manages to drag at times, and because this was written at the start of Mortensen's career with Derbyshire, we don't get the full story of how successful Mortensen was throughout his career (with a bowling average far better than many Test quicks).
