Summary:
This book is about a frog named Freddie, who is trying to imitate other animal sounds. Freddie sits by a pond as several animals cross his path. He try's to imitate each of their sounds, but it is not possible. Freddie realizes in the end that he can only croak, because he is a frog.
Personal reaction:
I personally like this book. It is full of colorful pictures and different animals. I feel this book can help beginner readers associate animals with their sound.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. I would ask the class to join me in making each of the animal noises as we read aloud.
2. After reading the book aloud, I would have the children tell me what animal makes what sound, and what sound
comes from which animal.

A simple story great for learning to read. The repetition of the stroy helps it become predictable and easy to read. The pictures are somewhat boring and plane, only in two colors. But for what the books purpose is, it does a fine job.
