Margaret Bloy Graham was born on November 2, 1920 in Toronto, Canada. After receiving a B.A. in art history from the University of Toronto in 1942, she moved to New York City to start her career. She worked at Conde Nast and did freelance projects as a designer and illustrator. In 1948, she married afficher plus George Zion and they began collaborating on children's book projects. Their first title, All Falling Down, was published in 1951. They produced 13 books as a team before they divorced in 1966, including the Harry the Dirty Dog adventures. Their title, All Falling Down, won a Caldecott Honor in 1952. Graham's illustrations for Charlotte Zolotow's The Storm Book received a Caldecott Honor in 1953. She wrote and illustrated Be Nice to Spiders and three titles starring Benjy the dog. She also illustrated What If? and It's Spring, both written by Else Minarik. What a cute story. Benjy’s family is going on a boat trip but Benjy has to stay behind with the children’s aunt. But Benjy really wants to go, so he stows away. Unfortunately he is on the wrong ship, but he is such a sweet dog, he makes friends anyway. And when the ship returns to port, Benjy finds his family again. A lovely story that stands the test of time.

Love this book! This book is about a spider who was dropped off at the zoo. The spider then goes from exhibit to exhibit making webs, and then eating all the flies bothering the animals. The spider is thanked by the animals, but the zoo keeper doesn't like the cobwebs in the exhibit and demands they are cleaned. When the cobwebs are gone, the flies come back and bother the animals all over again. Then, everyone learns the importance of spiders! I thought this book was so cute and can be used in a science unit, or even when talking about friendships or different abilities.… (plus d'informations)
